About Icozflix
iCOZFLIX- Public Advocacy Cinema Fund is a social venture empowered by iCONGO- India Confederation of NGOs. The mission is to mainstream social justice issues and causes by using the medium of popular Bollywood style movies to encourage citizen action and public advocacy to RIGHT every WRONG in our society. This the first venture fund that shall not only raise funds on an equity model from the social sector and bodies like UN, World Bank and other large development organisations, but also mobilize resources from likeminded socially responsible philanthropists, corporate foundations and most of all, for the first time, from citizens who want to Be the change as social investors. Thus any citizen, from the great Indian middle class, may invest in our movies after understanding the returns and equity sharing model.

iCOZFLIX is a venture that is led by a banker, L. S. Narayanswamy, as the honorary founding director and is based on tried and tested business models (See In The News and Some Past Initiatives link to understand the proof of concept) that were promoted by the founders of iCONGO over the past few year. The founders of iCONGO have organised film fests, theatre productions and produced and pioneered India’s first music video on issues of children and marginalised communities in association with Channel V, the award winning “Karm Mitra - The joy of giving real life entertainment docu-drama with marginalised communities having a direct dialogue with well to do communities about their plight, and UNHEARD VOICES- a journey on film across India with Saeed Mirza, capturing voices of ordinary citizens on governance and issues of social justice. These short films were supported by ZEE group, Star Group and Shringar Films to reach out to the people of India through their media. In 2003 we pioneered “MAINSTREAM CAUSE CINEMA” with “EK Alag Mausam” (with Nandita Das, Rajit Kapur and Anupam Kher). This was the first movie in India on the issue of HIV Aids to promote dignity for positive people. The idea was to sensitise citizens in India to the issue of people living with HIV, raise funds for a HIV shelter from the profits generated and build a just, humane and responsible society. (a google reach is recommended to know more on the Karm Mitra , Unheard voices and other projects mentioned above)

iCOZFLIX has now associated with Onir and Sanjay Suri of Anticlock films (past movies include the critically acclaimed My Brother Nikhil and Sorry Bhai) to promote Abhimanyu and create an organised venture fund were the citizens of India and the world can invest as donors and equity partners. (Refer Abhimanyu business proposal) The overall production cost is 15 million INR and Anticlock shall invest 50% of the overall cost. Anticlock films and iCOZFLIX for the first time have opened a PUBLIC OFFERING and various citizens from India and globally have invested over a million Rs. We need another 14 million and the reason to get citizens involved is to build public advocacy and also make meaningful cinema without compromising on the production or cause values. So come join this pioneering effort to be the change and also reap the benefits.
